Price and service transparency

• I am not saying all Solicitors are the same but I have phoned 3 solicitors today for their pricing which they declined to give me without knowing what I had for breakfast. All I wanted to know was how much a cease and desist notice to a cyber-squatter would cost and their reply was “someone whill have to ring you back”. All I want is a starting price that is not difficult, it could be prices start from £200 but no they want to play cloak and daggers…….. wow……….. and these solicitors are in business even though Transparancy Rules came into effect last year.
• So these solicitors which I have a good mind to report to the law society have lost my business……lol.
• The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Transparency Rules came into force on 6 December 2018. This page brings together guidance and support to help you and your firm comply with the new minimum requirements. The rules require firms to publish price and service information on their websites, or to provide it to prospective clients on request if they do not have a website. The rules apply to specified areas of law. For individual clients, these are:
  • residential conveyancing
  • probate
  • immigration (except asylum)
  • road traffic offences
  • employment tribunal claims (unfair/wrongful dismissal). For business clients, they are:
  • employment tribunal claims (unfair/wrongful dismissal)
  • debt recovery (up to £100,000)
  • licensing applications for business premises.
